The current Bandizip is version 7.47, dated 13 October 2026 according to Bandisoft. The page lists Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 in 32-bit, x64 and ARM64. It says Bandizip "is available for free, and the paid editions offers a variety of advanced features." On the check date of 24 October 2026 the newest version was 11 days old.
The page lists these Professional Edition exclusives: Password Manager, Repair Archive, Password Recovery, Image Preview in Archive and Antimalware Scan on Archive. It names no Standard edition, prints no price (only a "Buy Professional License" link) and does not mention a trial.
Release history
| Version | Date | Days since the previous | What the history says was fixed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7.47 | 13 Oct 2026 | 53 | Security flaws in the uninstaller (possible admin privilege code execution), Mark-of-the-Web handling, symbolic link processing |
| 7.46 | 21 Aug 2026 | 32 | Security flaws across Compound, NSIS, ARC, SFX, LZH, ARJ, BOND and TAR formats, plus symbolic links |
| 7.45 | 20 Jul 2026 | 41 | Security flaws in ZIP (packMP3), TGZ and TBZ handling and in hard link processing |
| 7.44 | 9 Jun 2026 | 36 | Some executable extensions not recognised; security flaws in TAR links and in ISZ and UDF files |
| 7.43 | 4 May 2026 | Not computed | Security flaws in parallel ZIP extraction and Mark-of-the-Web handling; a PEA memory leak; RAR5, EGG, ZIP extended field and CAB issues |
Computed from the five dates above: gaps of 36, 41, 32 and 53 days, an average of 41 days. Every one of the five releases lists at least one security fix. The newest release's fixes include the uninstaller, which means a Bandizip older than 7.47 has an uninstaller flaw the developer calls a possible admin privilege code execution risk.
That pattern is the main fact on this page. A release history that names security flaws in each of the last five versions shows an active developer and also shows that archive tools are a frequent target, since they parse many formats. Updating promptly matters more for an archiver than for most programs.
What Windows already does
Microsoft says Windows 11 24H2 opens ZIP, RAR, 7z and TAR on its own, and that encrypted archive files are outside what Windows supports. Bandizip's official page lists AES-256 encryption and an integrity test for archives, which is the gap the built-in support leaves. Readers on other Windows versions should check Microsoft's page for what their version opens. See the File Compression page for the other archivers.
Where the security fixes cluster
| Area fixed | Releases whose notes list it |
|---|---|
| Symbolic or hard links | 7.47, 7.46, 7.45, 7.44 |
| Mark-of-the-Web handling | 7.47, 7.43 |
| TAR and related formats (TAR, TGZ, TBZ) | 7.46, 7.45, 7.44 |
| Uninstaller | 7.47 |
Scope: en.bandisoft.com/bandizip/history, read 24 Oct 2026. Areas were grouped by this directory from the release notes listed above.
The same few areas recur. Symbolic and hard links appear in four of the five releases, and Mark-of-the-Web handling appears in two. That suggests links and the Windows mechanism that flags downloaded files are the places where archive tools get caught out. The history does not rank the severity of the fixes or say whether any was exploited.
Before you install: a short check
- Pick the build that matches your processor: 32-bit, x64 or ARM64.
- Check the edition. The free edition lacks the five Professional features above, and the page prints no price.
- Update when a new version appears, since the last five releases all carry security fixes.
- Download from Bandisoft's page, because the name is common on third-party sites.

| Large archives | Multi-volume splitting and archives larger than 4 GB |
| Encoding | Codepage settings with auto-detection |
| Security | AES-256 encryption and an archive integrity test |
| Windows | 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 in 32-bit, x64 and ARM64; a macOS version is linked |
| Licence label | Advertising-supported software and commercial software; the page shows ads |
| Interface languages | Twelve listed |
Scope: en.bandisoft.com/bandizip, read 24 Oct 2026. The speed figure is the developer's claim, with no test conditions on the page.
The licence label matters for the free edition: the page itself describes it as advertising-supported, while the Professional edition adds the password manager, repair and recovery tools listed in the fact sheet. Two claims in the table come without conditions: the multi-core speed figure and the codepage auto-detection. The page does not say which encodings are detected, so test an archive from another region before relying on it.
