What FreePcSofts does
FreePcSofts is a directory of Windows programs. Each listing page collects the facts you usually have to look up across several places before installing something: the current version and its release date, which Windows versions it runs on, what the free and paid editions include, how often it gets updated, and any security problems that were reported in reliable sources. Every page links straight to the developer's own download page.
The directory is organised in four categories: PC cleaners, web browsers, media players and file compression. Each category has eight programs, picked because they are widely used on Windows and have an official download page we could confirm.
What FreePcSofts does not do
- We do not host, mirror or repackage any installer. The download button on every page opens the developer's site.
- We do not offer cracked, patched, "pre-activated" or modified software, key generators or license keys, and we do not link to sites that do.
- We do not sell software or licences, and we are not support for any program listed. Problems with a program should go to its developer.
- We do not accept payment for listings or for where a program appears on a page.
- We do not claim to have tested programs on our own machines. Pages report what official sources and established publications say.
Who is behind FreePcSofts
FreePcSofts is an independent website, published under its own name. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or run by Microsoft, Google, Mozilla, Piriform, or any other developer whose software appears here. The site researches each program from its official pages and release notes, builds the comparison tables from those figures, and re-checks them when a new version comes out. FreePcSofts gives general information about software. It is not an IT consultancy, a security vendor or a licensed professional of any kind, and it does not give professional IT, security or legal advice.
Why FreePcSofts exists
Download sites often show an old version number, a file of unclear origin, or several "Download" buttons where only one is real. FreePcSofts keeps one rule instead: the facts on the page come from the developer or a named publication, with the date they were checked, and the only download link goes to the developer.
Editorial standards
Every version number, date and price on a listing page has a named source and a "checked" date. When two official pages disagree, as sometimes happens with system requirements or prices, the page shows both and says which source says what. Anything we can't confirm is left out. Pages are re-checked when the developer releases a new version or changes its download page. Details are on How We Verify.
How the site is funded
FreePcSofts is free to use. It shows, or may show, advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say in what we write or which programs we list. There are no paid placements and no affiliate links. If that ever changes, the Disclaimer will say so first, and the affected page will say so too.
Corrections and contact
If a version, date or link on a page is wrong, email contact@freepcsofts.com with the page address and, if you can, a link to the official source. We check it against that source, fix the page, and change its check date. You can also use the Contact page.
