How We Verify
Where the facts on FreePcSofts come from, how they are checked and dated, and what happens when something is wrong.
Sources we use
For each program we start with the developer: its download page, release notes or version history, system requirements, and pricing page if the program is paid. For open-source projects that publish on GitHub, the project's own releases page counts as the developer source. To find these pages we search only within the developer's own domain, so a mirror or download portal can't slip in by mistake.
For history, such as acquisitions or security incidents, we use the company's own announcements, official advisories (for example from Microsoft or a security research team), and established technology publications. Forum posts are used only when they come from the developer's staff, and the page says so.
What stays fixed and what moves
Some facts rarely change: who makes a program, what licence it uses, when a past incident happened. Others move all the time: version numbers, release dates, supported Windows versions and prices. Moving facts always carry the date we checked them. A page never shows an old version as current; if a page hasn't been re-checked since a new release came out, the check date tells you that.
What we do with each figure
- We read it on the source page itself, not in a search snippet.
- We write down the value, the source address and the date of the check.
- When official pages disagree, we show both values and name the page each one comes from.
- When we calculate something, for example the average gap between releases, the inputs are on the page so you can check the arithmetic.
Re-checking pages
A page is re-checked when the developer publishes a new version, changes its download page, or a reader reports a problem. The check date on the page only changes after the facts have actually been checked again.
Corrections
Send a correction to contact@freepcsofts.com with a link to the source. If the source confirms it, we fix the page and add a dated note at the bottom saying what changed.
What we don't do
- We don't invent or estimate version numbers, dates or prices.
- We don't copy figures from other download sites without checking them at the developer.
- We don't host files or link to third-party copies of installers.
- We don't write first-hand test results. We haven't run each program on our own hardware, so the pages don't pretend we have.
How this content is made
FreePcSofts researches every page from the sources described above. AI writing tools help draft the text. Every figure is then checked against its source and the page is reviewed before it is published. The sources for each page are listed at its end.
